Back Door!

Back Door!

August 2011

Back Door! expounds on the subject that San Franciscans love to hate: the MUNI transportation system.

Whether infrequent rider or relentless commuter, every MUNI passenger has a memorable experience on the bus. Drivers with character, colorful passengers, hectic city streets, and general mayhem vary from route to route, yet always seem to possess that uniquely San Francisco flavor. With Back Door!, Stattmiller presents a truly entertaining overview in 27 illustrative vignettes that capture the feelings that only MUNI can evoke.

Public Trust

Public Trust

June 2011

Featuring new paintings, a large-scale wall mosaic, and a preview of the landmark mural that he will create in this summer, Public Trust explores the themes which define his work. His cityscapes express simultaneity and multiplicity, while his urban vignettes make up larger compositions which touch on diverse, inter-connected influences, including city life, lettering, ethnicity, music, and abstraction.

Paramount among the influences for Public Trust is the 24,000-square-foot outdoor mural project that Barneclo has been conceptualizing over the last 3 years. The Systems Mural Project, located at 7th and King Streets in the SOMA district, is an idea he came up with while riding his bike past the huge blank wall on Caltrain property. He raised the funds necessary to produce it through donations from businesses and private individuals.
