20th Anniversary Collection

January 26 - February 8, 2016

This exhibition showcases work from our inventory and reflects our current art program. Having started as an online boutique called fabric8 in 1995, the last 20 years have been a strange and unexpected journey toward becoming a contemporary gallery. We are grateful to all of the talented and creative people we’ve worked with over the years, and to the thousands of customers and patrons that have supported San Francisco art and culture.

Ursula Xanthe Young

Ursula Xanthe Young is a painter, illustrator, and graphic designer whose urban fairy tale images have become a trademark of street culture in San Francisco and beyond. Her fine-lined illustrations and colorful modern paintings exude a style that is unique and appealing to art lovers of all kinds. Young grew up in the green rural dales of Northern England and studied art in New York, Florence, Vermont, Oslo, and London. After graduating from Parsons School of Design , she moved to San Francisco’s Lower Haight district and spent nearly a decade there. Following a stint in Alaska, Ursula has settled in Grass Valley CA, where she now lives and works.

Reuben Rude

Reuben Rude is the child of hippies who met in San Francisco during the Summer of Love. He grew up in the woods of Northern California and came back to San Francisco to study at the Academy of Art. He utilizes his expertise in drawing, painting, and illustration in both the creative and commercial realms, having shown in galleries, comic books, and magazines throughout the world. When he is not making art, he is working on his 100-year-old house.

Erik Otto

Erik Otto has a passion for creative exploration. He balances his time between painting and design, blending multiple influences into one distinct style that has been presented in distinguished galleries, film/theater sets, street corners, and even a parklet . Often improvising with a growing list of mediums and reclaimed materials, he creates work that is both expressive and conceptual, capturing the moment where beauty meets chaos. Otto received his BFA from San Jose State University and currently lives, works and rides his bike in Brooklyn and San Francisco.

Kelly Ording

Kelly Ording creates artwork that blends organic and geometric shapes with exact lines, pairing intuitive and mathematical mark-making. In doing so, she attempts to create and find beauty in simple things. Her pieces are as much about their creation process as the resulting imagery. Ording is a graduate of San Francisco Art Institute. In addition to fine art, she creates large-scale public works and murals for locations such as Clarion Alley, Pelaga Park Recreation Center, Genentech, Facebook, Kala Art Institute, and Unity Plaza, San Francisco.

Monty Guy

Monty Guy is a painter and illustrator whose earliest memories are drawing in the entryway of his parents' home in Southern California. A true artist, he is constantly compelled to create and hone his craft, seeing beauty and inspiration in everything around him. He appreciates timelessness in his subject matter as well as in his often-used black and white color palette.

Alec Huxley

Alec Huxley is a painter based in San Francisco. His work, primarily representational, is filled with contrast. Simultaneously stark and colorful, it focuses on landscapes of the American West Coast. Cinematic scenes serve as imperfect records of place, time and architecture for space travellers and wild animals. A self taught artist, his background includes studies in business, graphic design, photography, as well as a career in printing before committing to fine art full-time.

Evan Venegas

Evan Venegas uses imagery that is loosely based on the urban, industrial landscape that surrounds him. His creative process is rooted in the recognizable world but expressed by abstract shapes and vibrant colors. He seeks to create an experience that inspires a change in perception for the viewer. Venegas began painting with oils at a young age, and started developing his technique, of realistic rendering of imaginary objects, in his early teens. Born and raised in Queens, New York, he began his art education at Parsons School of Design, then moved to San Francisco to complete a BFA in Painting at the San Francisco Art Institute. He returned to New York in 2000.

Sarah Coleman

Sarah Coleman was raised in towns in Texas, Minnesota, and California, and noticed that each landscape possessed a unique effect, mood, and sky. These environments and their cultures shaped Sarah's early life experience and began her interest in the emotional and intellectual impacts of atmosphere, weather, and illusion. She studied art at UC Santa Cruz.

Joshua Mays

Joshua Mays is an Oakland-based painter, muralist and illustrator. Born in Denver CO, he studied illustration at Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design and graphic design at Community College of Denver before moving to Philadelphia, where he lived and worked for eight years before exhibiting and traveling nationwide. He has created commissions in Washington DC, Denver, Portland, Philadelphia, Oakland, London, Johannesburg, Mexico City, and Jakarta.
